The SUMO Flexiplex is a compact and extremely flexible solution for automating your handling and production process.

SUMO Flexiplex lathe automation with Motoman MH6 robot from EGS Automation Technology

In this application, the workpieces are fed in via a multi-lane infeed conveyor. The robot picks up a raw part with its gripper tool and waits in front of the loading door of the lathe for the end of the current machining process. After the door is opened, the unmachined raw part is first inserted into the main spindle and then the machined finished part is removed from the machine's counter spindle. The door closes and the turning process begins. While the machining process is running, the finished part that has just been removed is placed on the outfeed conveyor and a new raw part is removed from the supply on the infeed conveyor. All palletising processes and workpiece handling outside the machine take place parallel to the main time, and the loading process is optimised for minimum cycle times to ensure the best possible output. The SUMO Flexiplex is the compact and extremely flexible solution for automating your handling and production process. An industrial robot ensures reliable and precise workpiece handling and offers the necessary flexibility for different workpiece sizes and geometries. Workpieces are fed in and removed via four-track belts, which can be adjusted to the current component in next to no time.
